Amelia Island - 4 Stars ***** We would recommend Amelia Island as a long weekend getaway!
Amelia Island State Park - 5 Stars ****
The staff here is friendly and very helpful. The volunteers do a great job making sure everything stays clean. The facilities are hotel quality. We did not see the sites on the river side, but we did camp on the ocean side. Though it probably gets hot during the day, we were out exploring so it wasn't an issue. At night you can hear the ocean that is only a 2 minute walk away! Lots of wildlife including birds, sea turtles, gopher turtles, deer, armadillo....that we saw. We high recommend this State Park!
Fort Clinch - 4 Stars ****
This Fort is well preserved with beautiful views. They do an excellent job with recreating several of the rooms as well as having very informative characters role playing throughout the fort. We would advise bug spray for the sand fleas. If you have seen other Forts of this time, they are all set up pretty much the same, but still, the history changes at each one and you can learn quite a bit. It is easy to access and there is a nice gift shop. Don't miss the building next to the gift shop. The video in the back has some really interested bits of information in it!
